Education and Experience
Dr. Dean Sands has provided the Placerville community with high-quality dental care for more than three decades. He attended Foothill College for his associate degree and Stanford University for his bachelor’s degree. Dr. Sands attended Long Island University C.W. for his Master of Science degree and then it was off to dental school at Washington University where he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Sands practiced with Public Health in San Bernardino County and had a private practice in Victorville before moving to Placerville. He loves the field of dentistry and his patients, and he is proud of the multiple years he has won the Best Dentist of El Dorado County award.
Over his many years of practice, Dr. Sands has devoted thousands of hours to continuing education in all aspects of dentistry in order to stay on the cutting-edge of technology and treatment options. He has paid special attention to pathology, restorative care, endodontic treatment, and surgical dentistry.
Dr. Sands is a member of many major associations and societies, including the:

Outside the Office
Dr. Sands was born post-WWII in upstate New York along with seven brothers and sisters. He came to California during the Vietnam War as a Navy Navigator on board nuclear submarines. He now lives in Placerville with his wife, Jennifer, and son, Ted. They have two dogs, seven chickens, two horses, 11 sheep, and a ton of wild critters running around to keep them busy. When he has a chance, Dr. Sands enjoys Stanford football, old cars, running, and wood-working. In his community, Dr. Sands is involved with Smiles for Kids, Head Start Early Childhood Development, and various donated dental services to local schools and churches.
